Extremely curious programming and technology enthusiast. Loves to learn new skills and grow existing ones. Keen to work with other individuals and organizations to meet challenges.
Self taught (with some help from online courses and private tuition) computer programmer.
Have been an artist and musician for nearly 25 years, with a keen interest and process-driven and generative art. This interest lead me to explore technology, first as an artistic tool, and ultimately as a potential career path in its own right.
First programming language was Max/MSP, a visual audio-and-video centric programming language which is arguably enjoying its' heyday today. From this starting point I explored related languages such as Pure Data and VVVV, as well as slightly more traditionally-structured audio/video languages such as CSound and Supercollider.
My first professional gig in software was working as a web developer, first for a small development firm (Serafini Studios), followed by independent work building pages from scratch using HTML, JavaScript and CSS, as well as the WordPress platform.
I have also worked as an Academic Technologist - researching and exploring avenues for implementing new technologies and technology-related strategies to aid in classroom student learning. While working in this position I became involved with robotics, 3D printing and the general 'Maker' movement, and have devised and taught programming courses for elementary and middle-school aged students using Python and the Scratch programming language, amongst a diverse set of additional learning aids.
For the last 2 years I have worked as a software developer in Python (predominantly Python 3+) and the xHarbour language. I have experience with database integration (MySQL and SQLite with Python, and FoxPro/dBase iii with xHarbour).
Work Terms
Hours of operation are generally flexible, though my preference tends to be Monday-Friday business hours (9-5) US Central Time (GMT-6).
My rate is $30 US/hour. I use PSheets to track my hours, and will send a detailed invoice for all services rendered. I prefer to use PayPal for payment, but am open to other avenues.
Communication is key! I regularly use Skype, Facebook Messenger, email, text messages (I recommend Signal for messaging), and FaceTime. I am happy to explore additional options as well.
