I have extensive experience in the public and private sector having held senior leadership positions within Guernsey’s civil service. A progressive and innovative Chief Officer of the Commerce & Employment Department from 2008-12 responsible for improving communication and engagement with the private sector. Transferred across to Guernsey’s Education Department following the 2011 GCSE results and the crisis and charged with radically transforming the Department and improving the relationship with the public, politicians and teaching profession. Significantly improved public engagement and transparency within the Department’s operations whilst improving educational outcomes, achieving 10% budget reduction and improving the Department’s reputation.

Highly innovative and creative I am passionate about finding ways that government and businesses can better meet the needs of their communities and customers in a holistic manner. Responsible for leading the States innovation and continuous improvement programme with the focus on developing new capabilities and focusing on cultural transformation. Explored ways to bring technology and Design Thinking tools to consultations to ensure public services were aligned to the users’ needs. Passionate about the growth of conscious capitalism as a force for good and transforming the way businesses interact with their communities.

I took the opportunity to leave the civil service as I was becoming disillusioned with the endless internal politics and frustrations of the public sector. I saw an opportunity to actually focus on work that gave me greater autonomy, used my strengths and gave me purpose and meaning in my career.

Quite simply I want to make the world a better place and share my knowledge and experiences. Working towards impacting 1,000,000 people and helping them achieve their goals.
