A writer with more than 20 years experience teaching English who is ready to help you make your speaking or writing the best it can be.
I have a degree in elementary education from the University of Wisconsin. My first job after graduation was teaching on the Colorado River Indian Reservation in Arizona where I worked with over one hundred thirteen-year-old children on reading skills. Since then, I have taught every grade from kindergarten through eighth grade, primarily in middle schools as an English teacher.
I have traveled extensively in Taiwan, China, Japan, Guam, Saipan, Italy, Mexico, and the United Kingdom. Meeting people all over the world to learn about their language and culture is my life-long goal.
I recently returned home to my native state of Minnesota to help family members care for my elderly father, a fulfilling occupation that makes full-time classroom teaching impossible at this time. I would like to continue in a field I am passionate about, but I need to be able to work from home and have somewhat flexible hours.
Besides spending time with my family, I enjoy reading, knitting, and hiking. Most of my free time, however, is spent working on my own writing projects. I have submitted several short stories for publication and am currently working on a novel.
Work Terms
I am available weekdays in the early mornings and late afternoons, and weekends anytime. Hourly pay works best for a teaching position, while pay-by-the-word would be better for writing or editing jobs. The best way to contact me is through email and by phone.
