Spanish to English Translations by US Native w 18 Years of Full-Time Experience
I have been a full-time Spanish-English translator for the past 18 years in Madrid.
I started out heading up the team of translators that translated The English Magazine, on a pioneering project: the first translation of a Spanish newspaper’s (El Mundo) Sunday insert into English. In the wake of this project, Vaughan Systems opened a translation department, which I have headed since then.
In 2010 I won a national translation award for my translations of Taxi Magazine, the only publication of its kind in the world distributed in taxis (Mejor Revista Bilingue, 2010, FEGILT).
I have translated multiple books, including novels (A Barcelona Heiress), lengthy academic works on the history of law, and daily articles for the pro-democracy online newspaper Diario de Cuba, in addition to thousands of documents in a wide range of fields.
I am a certified English teacher (CELTA), having worked in this capacity for Vaughan Systems, and an experienced Spanish teacher (Wake Forest University, 1995-2004), such that I know the two languages and the relationships between them, inside and out.
I hold a BA in History from Washington and Lee University (1994, Magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) and an MA in Spanish from UNC Chapel Hill (1998).
I hope you consider my profile to be of interest to your company, and look forward to working with you.
