Revealing the gem hidden behind the rough pages
Editor by day, baker by night.
I have been obsessed with all things wordy since I learned to read at the tender young age of three. At five, my greatest fear was running out of things to read . . . now I am concerned about the lack of time I have to actually read everything that is being published and written.
I have been editing books for several years. What started at a general request: "Hey, can you read through this for me?" quickly became an opportunity to start a proofreading business.
I have strived to deliver quality content, in a quick, proficient manner. I have an incredibly short turn around time, and all of my clients have been satisfied with my work.
I have been told that I have a good eye for picking out inconsistencies within a story, and that I pay attention to detail. I can pick out a misspelled word, fix that messy punctuation, and suggest a different word than the same one you have used five times before.
As an editor, I realize that, while there is a general standard of writing, there is also a time for all the rules of grammar to be broken. I will never, ever suggest edits that would ruin the voice or tone of the story. The author has perfected the manuscript in his/her own style, and I would never want to change that -- just perfect it a bit, and take the rough edges off.
My promise to you is to reveal the gem that is hidden behind all the rough pages of the manuscript.
