Integrity, expertise, creativity and the ability to evolve, along with devotion to preserving the highest standards of the written word
Concise, on-point, short-deadline writing cultivated from 23 years as an award-winning print journalist, photographer and editor translated well into writing:
Several weekly blogs that include coverage of a world-broadcast radio program
Three ebooks in the self-awareness/improvement genre
Numerous health- and nutrition-related articles, with a focus on chronic inflammation
Content for two new websites cultivated from research papers and interviews with doctors and scientists
Product descriptions for the amazon.com platform
Google ads, automated email responses and other SEO and keyword-rich content
Editing academic papers and books, and resume writing via my own, web-based business
This new focus has allowed me to further hone skills of pinpoint communication so relevant to the moment. I continue to report freelance for the Associated Press.
I call on my vast experience as a beat, features, sports and on-the-spot news reporter/photographer, as well as my expertise in AP-style writing and editing, interviewing, research, fact-checking and ability to develop mutually-respectful working relationships with the public, government and elected officials, emergency response personnel and law enforcement.
I am also an artist, educated at Rhode Island School of Design (architecture), mother of six (grown children and now, two dogs/four cats), and a volunteer in public service, including an ambulance corps, conservation commission and board of assessment appeals.
Work Terms
Definitely not a 9-to-5er, and willing to accommodate time differences and creative bursts. I like to dive in.
Rate is always negotiable.
My approach is to team up with individuals and groups to produce the best product. That means customized communication to meet everyone's needs. I use Skype, Slack and Messenger for text and video, email, text, phone, Morse code, whatever works. I prefer Word and Google docs for file sharing, or any other program that allows back and forth via comment and suggested edits.
