Guiding Purpose, Driving Change: Let's Make Every Impact Count with La Loyka

At La Loyka, we're not just consultants but passionate advocates for purpose-driven organizations and grassroots initiatives. I'm Karin Traeger, an environmental activist, adventurer, and the driving energy behind La Loyka. With a deep-rooted passion for the environment, I've dedicated my life to creating a positive impact on our planet.
Throughout my career, I've held leadership roles in both the corporate and NGO sectors. One of my unforgettable experiences was serving as the CEO of the Yarra Riverkeeper Association, where I gained valuable insights into environmental challenges and the urgent need for practical solutions. It was there that my commitment to conservation truly took flight.
But my love for adventure is equally powerful. As an avid ultrarunner, I've tackled some of the most demanding courses, including an epic run along the entire length of the Yarra/Birrarung River while raising funds and awareness for river conservation. Nature's sheer beauty and resilience fuel my determination to protect our planet.
When not logging miles on the trails, I explore remote places on foot or by bike. One of my most memorable adventures was a solo bike ride across Tasmania, following the Tassie Trail. It was a transformative journey that reinforced my belief in the interconnectedness of nature and inspired me to continue making a positive impact.
At La Loyka, I draw inspiration from the native Chilean bird Loica or Loyka (in Mapudungun). The Loyka is believed to be a healer bird, bringing medicine from the plants and land. For me, this bird represents the rich biodiversity of Chile and serves as a reminder of my connection to the land and its native species. As a Chilean, I deeply respect and cherish the unique flora and fauna that call my beautiful country their home.
In alignment with my commitment to conservation, I pledge to donate 1% of our profits to supporting conservation organizations in Chile. By doing so, I aim to contribute to the preservation of native wildlife and the protection of their habitats.
With over a decade of outdoor experience, I bring a contagious energy to everything I do. My goal is to inspire others to embrace a life of adventure while actively contributing to the well-being of our planet. At La Loyka, I'm here to help you make a difference.
