Excel VBA magic, professional Access database solutions
Trained as a nurse I branched into Access database maintenance in 1997 when working in the audit department of the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children. In my time there I went on to design and develop two more databases for the Intensive and Neonatal Intensive Care Units.
In 2000 I moved over to the headquarters of Curries and Dixons, automating the vast and complex risk calculation spreadsheets for their electrical products.
Then In 2002 I was very proud to be working in a small team of 3 who maintained the applications databases for the Arts Council of England, one a legacy Access system and the other two in SQL Server.
I repatriated to South Africa 2004 and joined a data information service offering scans of valuable hard copies as fully electronic Excel spreadsheets within a very tight turnover period. Over a period of 8 years I created an extensive library of VB macros for the rapid cleaning and sorting of columnar and tabular data, housed behind an attractive interface anyone can use.
I also developed an Access database to track and bill the company's lunch orders.
Since then I have created a suite of VBA procedures - again behind a user friendly interface - specific to the formatting of scanned bank statements or banking data pasted from online. This 'Statement Solution' once again helps to get hard copy data usable in Excel much faster than it could be re-typed.
I also bookbind manuscripts into hardcover books, to this end I developed a desktop publishing application so that works from Gutenberg.org and other sources of high quality public domain texts could be put into print once again. Whether in Word, Excel or Access, comprehensive solutions to work processes give me a great deal of satisfaction.
