I'm here to do more than provide a service, collect a check, and go on my merry way. I'm here to empower you and your business through my writing, editing, design, and translation services.
Hello, everyone! I'm a recent college graduate with two BA degrees (English literature and Russian language) from Arizona State, Magna Cum Laude. I've done some freelancing for a couple of years in the past, and I'm getting right back into it now that I have the time.
I love to read, write, translate, design, do wood- and leather-work, and sew. I do ballroom dance, rock climbing, and horseback riding whenever I get the chance. I'm always working on improving my Russian and writing skills. I also periodically update my programming knowledge and make sure to poke around every new release of the Adobe and Office suites so my knowledge stays current.
My philosophy is that I'm here to take care of the client. I'm not just here to provide a service; I'm here to look out for the best interests of you and your business.
One last thing: An unfortunate computer crash wiped out most of my portfolio abut a year back, so please be patient with my portfolio content as I am currently starting a project to recreate everything from memory. ( written 22 August, projected recreation completion date of the most important pieces is 10 September.)
Work Terms
I prefer to handle the majority of communication via text message or email. (623.698.2625 // katrina.merritt@gmail.com, respectively.) I do prefer to do initial consultations over a phone call or video chat. (Skype: tundracactus.) However, I can adapt to whatever communication style you prefer, as long as we have a way to get the important, legally-binding things in writing. Please do note that I reserve the right to take notes during our conversations over phone call, in-person, and Skype formats for record-keeping purposes to ensure that I am working accurately to fulfill your vision of our project.
Payment terms will vary depending on the type of job. For one-time jobs, I require 50% up-front and 50% after approval of the final product, but before delivery thereof. For regular hourly or longer-term contract jobs, I ask that we develop a payment schedule that we both agree upon in advance (be it in two-week pay periods or otherwise.)
