Technology and writing for humans.
I have an unusual background for a tech guru. Before entering the technology field, I studied theatre (Northwestern University ‘82) and International Relations (Johns Hopkins SAIS, ‘89). I have served as a nonprofit executive director, a writer and editor, and as a sales and marketing director.
I think every technology initiative benefits from someone who gets tech, but not at the expense of getting people. My varied background enables me to bring a holistic understanding to organizational dynamics and the often-fraught human-tech interaction.
I was born and raised near Cleveland, OH. Since then, I have spent time in Boston, Chicago, and Stockholm, finally settling in the Washington, DC metro area in 1987. I live in Takoma Park, Maryland with my wife – a graphic designer – our dog and two cats. In my spare time, I dabble in political activism; see my blog, Left-Hand View: lefthandview.wordpress.com.
