Blue Cape Consulting exists to help your organization anticipate, or respond to, the challenges of a complex and changing environment.
The company name comes from a co-worker who – when confronted with a difficult problem or need for out-of-the-box thinking – would say "Go get 'SuperK' and tell him to put on the cape." So, it is now my goal to “put on the cape” and help your organization make the most of its opportunities.
I am an experienced business and community leader with expertise in the fields of market research, marketing/branding, strategic planning, and organizational management, based on decades of experience in both for-profit and non-profit organizations. I am passionate about solving hard problems, helping businesses succeed, and making an impact on local communities.
In addition to my work with Blue Cape Consulting, I am an adjunct marketing professor at the University of Pittsburgh, President of the North Allegheny School Board, and a Research Director for Schmidt Market Research. My goal is to use data analysis and business savvy to push beyond surface-level insights and recommendations in the areas such as branding, customer satisfaction, market assessments, product development research, concept testing, marketing promotions and strategy, sales and product management, and more.
My background also includes many years of experience in marketing promotions and strategy, sales and product management, website design and usability testing, as well as volunteer management and training. This experience is grounded in an education that includes a bachelor’s degree from Duke University and an MBA from the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh. I also hold the Professional Researcher Certification from the Market Research Association and have completed a certificate in Principles of Marketing Research from the University of Georgia.
