My experience in project management in IT Projects comes from working as a full time project manager for a great development company. This experience has taught my what's necessary to create highly successful projects and work as a key member of adhoc online teams.

My experience as an entrepreneur comes from owning a salt water pet company for which I have spent hundreds of hours preparing presentations to investors, care documentation for various species, 3D models of tank designs and warehouse layout using Google Sketchup, and financial projections for setting business goals and prioritizing work efforts. Given the nature of small startup businesses I’ve also done much of the labor involved including building aquariums, tank and facility plumbing, electrical, leasehold improvements and many other jobs. That business has been scaled down due to profit margins vs time investment. As an entrepreneur I have learned the importance of self-direction in taking project plans through to completion in addition to maintaining relationships with suppliers and distributors. I hope to use these skills to build a high volume food growing facility inside a large city.

My experience in development has been a lifelong exercise. Before highschool I spent evenings creating interesting short games or graphic demos and as I moved into university I found I have a strong aptitude for creating high-performance and scalable data structures. From working as a project manager in a contract-based website / mobile app development company I was exposed to a wide range of issues and found I also have a strong aptitude debugging unknown systems to find the core issue. I have also proven an ability to correct the core issue while causing a minimum of unwanted side-effects.

Work Terms

Since I am currently working solo or with adhoc teams and most of the projects I'm taking on are geographically dispersed I don't maintain a fixed schedule.

I do a review of incoming emails at 9am, 12pm and 3pm EST (GMT -5) and can typically return emails within an hour or two of those times. Once a project has moved beyond estimation and quoting I prefer to maintain contact via Skype (for non-immediate issues) or phone calls (for immediate issues) as I find back-and-forth emails cost significantly more time than quick calls to review specific issues.

For projects with a value greater than $4,000 my preference is to split payments into $2,000 increments with specific measurable goals before the next body of work gets approved and launched.

Emails sent to this profile's email address get sorted into my read-first folder to ensure that they don't get mixed in with Spam or other folders.

For projects that exceed my available time I have access to a larger firm which does custom development which I've worked with in the past. I can work with you on preparing scope documents which complement their workflow and can help you reduce your overall development cost by leveraging my lower hourly fee.
