Kiera has been a software developer, professionally, for 17 years. In that time, she has run multiple businesses, building innovative solutions for clients of all sizes.
Kiera started with computers the age of 9, as the first contact with a PC she instantly hooked. She learned DOS and Basic with her first computer and it started her on a path of technology, which she would eventually make her career. She discovered HTML and built her own web site in 1996 and has been developing in web technologies ever since, learning multiple web technologies, such as PHP, Javascript, Node, and Angular. Over the years, she has written code in over a dozen computer languages and built software from games to business applications.
Kiera has a diploma in Computer Engineering Technology, with honours from Seneca College. In 2005, she acquired an IT support and ISP business where she grew it from 3 employees to 11. Since selling her business in 2012, she has been a freelance software developer and a part-time college instructor, building custom software solutions with WordPress as well as teaching students web design and WordPress.
Discovering WordPress in 2007, as an administrator, Kiera has been building on it ever since. She frequents WordCamps and has spoken at them several times on multiple topics. She has built WordPress plugins and themes for a wide variety of purposes including teaching, business intelligence and automation.
When not coding, you will find Kiera, photographing the world, and hanging out with friends, cooking and, sometimes, practicing sign language.
