Data annotation is the process of labeling unstructured data/information for the purpose of training Machine Learning models. A vast amount of raw data exists all around us, in the form of emails, cellphone images, and videos, or speech recordings, and in different formats including images, video, text, and audio. When appropriately labeled, this data is used to help Machine Learning models identify relevant objects, sounds, or words, and thereafter perform autonomous operations like driving, speaking, or assisting diagnostics, to name a few common applications.
