My adult “career” began, so to speak, in South America, where I served in the U.S. Peace Corps. It was there that I gained my passion for both writing and training. Ever since that experience, I have worked a number of jobs doing some of both, or at times exclusively writing and editing, while at other times working strictly in a training capacity.

Since then I have played the role of teacher/trainer/facilitator for everything from bilingual education of students on the Texas-Mexico border, to training trainers, managers, and frontline employees on sales methodologies, order entry systems, and product knowledge. In the learning and development field, I have played the additional roles of Instructional Designer, Training Content Developer, QA Manager, and more.

I have used my writing and editing skills in an even wider capacity, having produced, edited, and proofed content for textbook publishers, online and print news organizations, online and printed training materials, self-improvement books, and bible school workbooks. The content of my work has focused primarily on topics of business interest, customer service, economics, gas/electric, leadership, personal finance, sales, and telecommunications.

As for my current career development, I am nearing the completion of my M.S. in Instructional Design from Western Kentucky University’s distance learning program. I plan to graduate in May 2016. Additionally, I have been “re-learning” Spanish with Rosetta Stone’s software program, as I hope to return to my advanced Spanish level from my Peace Corps days.
