My greatest passion in life is language, words, communication. I enjoy interacting with complex ideas and learning how to present them well using various mediums.
My bachelor’s degree in professional writing prepared me to produce a diverse set of written material and adapt communication to most any style or subject. These skills were first refined while I interned at a trade magazine for automotive accessories. I was called upon to edit press releases and articles communicating the technical specifications of new products. My position placed me in charge of a weekly newsletter for industry professionals for which I managed and created content. I developed and maintained industry contacts to source information for content and managed social media elements.
For two and a half years, I was a quality assurance tester for the software company Dire Wolf Digital. I came to fully understand complex software and communicated with engineers and designers regarding product defects by way of detailed technical reports. My position also involved taking reports submitted by our users and editing them into the correct format for our process as well as collaborating with designers on documentation of our software.
In 2017, I left Dire Wolf Digital to work as a freelance writer. In that time, I have worked with numerous clients editing and producing content to fulfill their diverse needs. My largest client during that time was Medstudy, an organization focused on producing education material for current medical practitioners and medical students. As I contracted for them, I cleaned up messy technical writing and identified apparent contractions or ambiguities to be cleared up by our professional consultants. This content conformed to a comprehensive in-house style guide. The majority of my other clients were businesses looking for SEO-optimized content.
