Mechanical Engineer at Westinghouse Nuclear with several years of engineering design mostly for power generation, transmission and distribution industry. Professional Eng licensure in-proce
My engineering experience includes R&D for new products and existing product line optimization. Proficient with the following tools for mechanical drafting, design and FEA: ProE Creo, Solidworks, Autodesk, ANSYS, Matlab and many other analysis software packages. Experienced in prototype generation and testing from 3D part and assembly models to seismic qualification and similar supporting code and industry standard qualification.
Seemingly unrelated, but one of my passions for spiritual nourishment is holding Native Hawaiian hula workshops to keep my artistic, cultural, spiritual and physical connections alive and well. This allows me to be continually open-minded and creative when exploring solutions to challenges.
Other than that, I am extremely dedicated to seeing projects through to completion and have been told that I over-analyze to excess at times. Over the years I've gotten better at identifying the best design and manufacturing practices by specifying economical and robust material selections with careful consideration of postulated failure analysis, while adhering to applicable codes and standards.
I'm forever learning and curious. I have at times had a tendancy to take on more work than I should have agreed to but I figure if I put the extra time in now, I'll be better equipped to manage an engineering firm after I get my PE.
Work Terms
I am currently a consultant for Engineering Management and New Power Plants for Westinghouse Nuclear. I typically work 40 hr work weeks but since several plants are in critical phases of construction I've been working longer hrs. This should change by the end of Feb at the latest. I also like to teach classes 1 night a week. I will be available for 10 hrs a week until the end of February. After that, I may be able to work 20-25 hrs a week. After March I may be available up to 40 hrs a week.
Best way to communicate is text, occasional phone call and/or emails. My info should be in my profile should you want to discuss your projects further.
