I grew up in the mountains of Virginia, studied filmmaking at Bard College, and earned my MFA in Writing from California College of the Arts.
My fiction has appeared in numerous literary journals, including The Southern Review, The Denver Quarterly, The Gettysburg Review, and many others. My story collection RIVER OF FAST RISING WATER was a finalist for the Flannery O’Connor Award for Short Fiction. I was also a recent MacDowell Colony Fellow.
I teach writing and yoga, write about popular culture and am currently at work on my first novel, MAP OF THE INVISIBLE.
