Laura Stone has more than fifteen years as a professional writer and editor and has owned SilverQuill Editing Services since 2004. She has written and edited for commercial businesses, government contractors, magazines, and individuals. Laura is highly qualified in developmental editing, content editing, line editing, and proofreading, on academic materials, business materials, technical materials, resumes, fiction and non-fiction.
Laura has edited manuscripts from published and not-yet-published authors of short stories, novellas, and novel-length fiction and non-fiction, as well as dissertation materials. She is skilled at research to ensure accuracy of facts within a manuscript. She is well-versed in AP Style, APA Style, and Chicago Manual of Style.
An on-staff editor for an international magazine, Laura edits for style, content and conformity to the magazine's style guide. She assists in acquisition decisions and is responsible for acceptance/rejection communications with individual authors and contributors.
Currently Laura teaches on-line editing courses through Chapter One AOL Writing Groups. Her subject matter includes, but is not limited to, punctuation, grammar, show vs. tell, and passive voice.
