I obtained my BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK, followed by my PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Cambridge, UK. Subsequently, I completed a post-doc and worked as an Assistant Professor at the Mattel Children's Hospital, UCLA. During this time I organized the medical grand rounds series, so am completely comfortable with medical terminology and communication.
I also co-founded a start-up biotechnology company based on a series of agents with a broad range of therapeutic effects related to endocrinology, oncology, and neurology, which recently began trading on the TSX stock exchange.
I have an unparalleled breadth of research experience, and written and/or edited hundreds of manuscripts, grants, abstracts, posters, presentations, websites, books, and more, including those related to Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, cardiology, endocrinology, neurology, oncology, cell biology, and molecular biology.
