Copywriter/Award-Winning Communications Specialist
Leanna is an experienced public relations practitioner and copywriter with close to two decades of experience. She has an extensive background in all areas of copywriting with a specialty in health and education programming.
As a director of Health Care for two major public relations companies, she was responsible for a number of major accounts as well as new business development. Prior to that, she served as Marketing and Public Relations Director at a world-renowned teaching hospital.
A specialist in marketing and communications planning for the public and non-profit sectors, Leanna has developed and implemented programs for a number of groups, including the Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians, the Risk Factor Modification Centre and the Cardiovascular Sciences Department at a major University and Allergan Pharmaceuticals. Her involvement in social marketing is extensive, having worked very closely with the Brain Injury Coalition and the Brain Injury Association, the Association for Children and Adults with Learning Disabilities, the Salvation Army, Red Cross, Casey House (Aids hospice) and HIV clinic, as well as three family practice clinics and a detoxification unit in an inner city.
A former college teacher and Board member, she received graduate training in the areas of education and international affairs at Central Michigan University and the University of Hawaii. She has lectured extensively on the role of effective communications and holds a certificate in Management of Change.
On a personal note, Leanna has written and produced several documentaries and short films. Her love of animals is shown through her ongoing adoption of rescues. Today she has two rescue dogs (a Great Pyrenee and a Golden Doodle), three horses, and a pondful of koi.
Work Terms
Hours of operation are open, depending upon client and project needs. Preference is for weekdays, 10 - 6 (please note: I'm in AZ and on MST hours).
Payment: 60% on engagement; 40% on completion
