Editor, Creative Nonfiction. Nothing excites me more than a great story. I have a knack for structure, development, and fine-tuning the narrative voice.
Hi there. I'm from the Midwest, but got bit by the writing bug while living in LA as a working actor. My first two books were published in 2009 and 2010. The second, a memoir—As Nora Jo Fades Away: Confessions of a Caregiver—was about my grandmother, who lived with my family for the last three years of her battle with Alzheimer's. This changed my life. I grew as a writer and became drawn to other people's stories of love, loss, challenge, inspiration, and humor. I've co-authored a couple of memoirs since: Lucky Number Nine and Through Fire and Rain. I stop, drop, and get into downward dog at around four p.m. four-to-five days a week to keep my shoulders loose for editing. I live within walking distance of the largest fresh water lake in the world, Lake Superior. And it's even warm enough to dip my toes in...in August. I'm raising a YA, so have found myself reading a bit of that lately.
Work Terms
9-7 Monday-Friday, EST. I work Saturdays from 9-12, and mom my life away the rest of the weekend. Still, I understand that we all live on writers' time, and have taken a calls at 9 p.m. on Christmas Eve, and 7 a.m. on any given Monday. This job keeps me on my toes. Love it. I have a 1- to 5-business-day turnaround on mss.
