A picture might paint a thousand words, but a thousand words will surely awaken an imagination...
My parents taught me to read at the age of three, not because they thought I could master reading at that age, or that I was brilliant in some way, no, they just wanted to find something "normal" I could do. You see, back then autism wasn't a thing and only boys had ADHD, so they just had a weird little girl who did not play with toys and avoided playing outside.
And that's how I learned that words weren't just the annoying sounds people made when they wanted me to do something, but that they could be seen. And once I understood that they could be strung together to create stories, I was hooked. Before long, I was reading anything and everything I could get my hands on since children's books were just too short to keep me occupied for long. I read my dad's Sunday newspaper cover to cover, my mom's soppy romance novels, my sisters' school text books, and even an entire set of encyclopaedia.
I have since learned what I enjoy reading and what puts me to sleep, but I've never stopped reading.
I couldn't tell you how many books I've read in my lifetime, or why it never occurred to me to pursue a career involving my great love of books up to now, but now that I've started on this path, I want to keep going.
I've held many positions throughout the years, medical receptionist, dental nurse, sales assistant in a retail environment, telesales, etc. I've also spent half my life being a stay-at-home mom to my two kids, but now I'm in a place in my life where I can and want to do what makes me happy.
I now want to dedicate my time to helping authors to put the best version of their books out there. Books that will captivate readers and turn them into addicts of the written word.
Work Terms
I work from 7am to 4pm CAT (Central Africa Time), Monday to Friday
I am open to payments on either a milestone basis or project basis, as will be discussed during our initial conversation.
