Take the Leap with LSKdesigns

It's no accident that I ended up a graphic designer. When I look back, the seeds were sown early: my Dad brought home one of the first models of the Mac computer and I spent hours "drawing" pictures; our year-long class project in fourth grade was to create a school newspaper; and when I entered sixth grade, I joined the yearbook staff. My fate as a design guru (read "geek") was sealed.

The top four things that make me great at my job: creativity, problem solving, listening, and technical skill. I'm an imaginative person with an artistic eye and a sense of humor. I can hone in on a client's message and help it come through to the audience. I'm comfortable playing with words and know how to use that ability to the client's best advantage.

Graphic design often involves problem solving, whether it's assembling the pieces of a layout like a puzzle or determining how to present information in the most digestible way. Sometimes the problem is technical in nature. No matter the situation, I'm adept at jumping in and figuring out a solution.

Working with clients requires excellent communication skills. The most important part of any relationship is the ability to listen. When discussing a project with a client, listening to their needs and requirements is crucial. Asking questions to draw out more information is a skill I've learned as a professional designer and I've found that it helps the design process go more smoothly. Listening creates a great working partnership between client and designer.

I'm a bit partial to Macs as a designer, but my technical skills across platforms and the Adobe Creative Suite are expert. I'm also told I'm a pro at programs like Quark and Publisher, but please don't tell anyone because it's really embarrassing. I'm well-versed in the language of print and web media and know how to prepare files properly to ensure a polished final product.

Work Terms

I do my freelance work in the evening (6-10pm EST) and on weekends. I'm happy at accept emails any time and if I can answer during the day, I will. Otherwise, you can expect to hear from me promptly when during my freelance hours.
