Lucy Tiven was born in Manhattan and lives in Los Angeles, where she works at a copywriter by day and moonlights as a freelance essayist and Contributing Editor for The Fanzine. She got her B.A. from Kenyon College., where she was the 2013 winner of the John Crowe Ransom Poetry Prize, the American Academy of Poets Prize and 2011 Proper Prize for Poetry. She was a Top Ten Finalist in the 2011 Tennessee Williams Literary Festival. Her longform & shortform journalism has appeared in LA Weekly, the LA Review of Books, Vice, Thought Catalog, New Hive and elsewhere around the web. Her poems have appeared in various literary journals including Lazy Fascist Review, Hobart, The Quietus, Two Serious Ladies, The Scrambler, Pop Serial, and Front Porch.
