Professional translation services from English and French into Spanish

I was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia and have lived, worked and studied in Spain, the U.S. and Canada, where I was able to learn more about different variations of my native language.

I have worked as a translator during the past 13 years in different industries and in various cultural contexts, including North and Latin America, Europe and Asia. This has given me a particular perspective on intercultural communication.

I have had the opportunity to manage different types of projects of various sizes, collaborating with other translators, proof-readers and editors. I have found that good communication, organization, continuous assessment and documentation are key elements in any translation project.

I believe that a good translation should convey the message of the original text, of course! But it should also “sound” natural and fluent, and be respectful of cultural differences. That means that you want your readers to forget that they are actually reading a translation and, at the same time, you want them to wonder at the unique perspectives put forth in the text.

My approach to translation is based on the analysis of the cultural, linguistic and functional specificities of both the source text and the target audience. I consider translation to be a creative process and part of a larger dialogue between peoples and cultures.
