Federally Trained Translator with Additional Degree in French and Experience in Both Field Translation and Teaching French
A little about my linguistic skills:
I served in the LA Army National Guard for six years, during which I earned federally-recognized translation credentials. Also during this time, I served as the liaison interpreter on two missions to Africa (Morocco and Benin). Upon completion of my training, I returned to college at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, where I earned a Bachelor's degree in French. During my time studying for this degree, I studied abroad in Provence in a program geared specifically towards speaking. While still in the military, I served as our unit's French Language Instructor for part of the time. I have also tutored (mostly high school and college level) students in French since returning from my military training. I have also gone to France again since studying abroad.
And now a little about me. I was born and raised in culture-rich Louisiana, where I gained a full appreciation for what makes each place unique (like its cuisine, people, and dancing). Because of my love for culture and traveling, I have been able to fall in love with ballroom dancing, latin dancing, hiking, and rock climbing. I also really enjoy sewing (self-taught). I currently stay home with my children, volunteer teach ESL at a local church, and sew on the side, but am looking for opportunities to use my linguistic skills for extra income.
