I started my professional career in the IT security field, working at the Security Operation Center (SOC) of two of the main phone companies in Italy. Being at the forefront of the battle between good and bad guys strengthened my concern about the risk to which a system, connected to the internet, gets exposed, and helped to realized how important is to embrace the security starting from the development phase.
After three years my career had a major shift toward the programming world.
Although my university studies were security centered and my master thesis has been the implementation of a POC of a semantic malware classifier, I realized that, starting from the experiences that I had during my studies and of course my thesis, writing code was something that I enjoyed more that working in the security industry, no matter which field I was employeed to.
The reason behind the attraction for SW development is that, somehow it is a pure creative activity and it gives me the possibility to express myself and my desire to be creative. [It] Also requires precision, analitical thinking and determination, which are all traits that potraits my personality.
I also like the challenge and to be challenged, something that probably originates from having played sports always at the competitive level, and this led me to accept the invite offered to me by the two active founders of a Milan based startup more than four years ago, and helped them to convert what was a promising idea to what now is a company with more that 20 employees.
This working experience shaped my professional identity and definetely helped me to become a much better and more mature developer. [It] Resumes those that I consider my core values, rigorousness, determination, humbleness.
I try to balance my working life by dedicating myself to my interests and hobbies, as training for running competition, as well as reading or make progress with my cooking skills.
Work Terms
I do prefer to work from monday to friday, but for exceptional cases I might also work on the weekend. For the payment, I opt for receiving invoices via SafePay. The main communication mean is the email. Again, for urgent cases, we may use a more direct way.
