Relationship-driven, detail-oriented & self-professed nerd with a passion for copy editing
At an early age, I discovered a passion for reading. I became immersed in the stories found in the books that helped me earn Accelerated Reading points. I believe this is why I discovered I have a knack for writing and copy editing. When something is wrong on a page, it just stands out to me. Sometimes it's a typo, sometimes it's a grammatical error, and sometimes it's a word the writer uses too frequently.
I spent 10 of the last 15 years of my career in the non-profit sector in roles focused on donor development and fundraising. I have been responsible for writing donor/client newsletters, grant applications and/or reports, mail communications and social media posts. I enjoy writing, but I thrive when I'm copy editing. I am meticulous when reviewing work; however, I am a southern gal and also believe in being kind.
In addition to the above mentioned professional written communications experience, I have also completed freelance jobs editing grant applications, thesis papers, and dissertations.
Work Terms
I believe in a flexible schedule and being available to meet the needs of the clients I serve, However, I also believe in balancing this with my personal life. I always meet or exceed expectations when it comes to work quality and meeting deadlines. I ask for a business day to respond to business-related communications, and I will always be transparent if I have plans to be out of office when a longer response time may be possible.
