Quality, not quantity, is the key to success in article writing
I started my freelance writing career in 2013. It was the time when I was introduced to a platform called Elance.
Since this platform was known for writing jobs, I decided to look for clients who need writers to write articles, web content, ebooks, blog posts, and the like. Luckily, I got a writing project and good feedback afterward.
My first two clients who gave me a 5-star rating pushed my freelance career forward. After that, my credibility as a writer became stronger and stronger as time went by.
Later on, Elance merged with oDesk and became Upwork. As a result, my job portfolios from Elance were moved to Upwork.
When I established myself in the writing niche at Upwork, I began receiving invitations from clients. That opportunity had led me further to improve my writing skills in the English language.
From then on, I came to love my freelance career as a content writer.
Writing is now my passion.
Today, I write articles on various topics for web content, blog posts, and ebooks. I also accept ghostwriting projects from professional bloggers and self-publishers of ebooks, especially on topics I love the most, such as self-help and personal development.
As a writer, I believe that writing is synonymous with continuous learning. Therefore, I don't write for the sake of compliance. As much as I can, I strive to deliver only quality articles. I keep learning for the sake of quality. Mistakes are my best tools to improve my skills. That's my work ethic.
Quality, not quantity, is the key to success in article writing. I witnessed it myself. One of my favorite clients told me, "You'd rather be selling 1,000 words for $100 than writing 10,000 words at $10."
Because of this, it has become my mission statement to choose quality "before quantity." Nevertheless, balance plays an important role.
My life as a digital freelancer is not a bed of roses. There were times I ran out of projects. And because of a strong for work, I couldn’t help but accept any workload to keep myself busy.
As a result, some instances gave me no choice but to work with demanding clients. Jerks are everywhere. Some clients are bossy and arrogant. It’s a matter of how well you deal with such people.
I handled them quite well. Those clients made me learn a lot of things.
Working from home is not as comfortable as many people think. Yet, with inspiration and passion, telecommuting is meaningful and enjoyable.
Yes, inspiration and passion have been my success ingredients for many years of struggle in a wild world of freelancing. I love this career.
