Global Communications Professional, Writer, Strategist, Consultant, Marketing & PR. People remember what I create.
I've worked in many parts of the world as head of communications at IBM, BBC Worldwide Americas, IMS Health, Gartner, Nextwave Wireless, and Toptal. Along the way, I've managed public relations, advertising and promotion, marketing, internal communications, branding, corporate design, television production, website development, and more. What I bring to the table is my writing , my creativity, enthusiasm, and a lot of experience. I am all for simplicity, impact, memorability.
I am a rather versatile writer and work pretty fluidly in different styles. I am a pro at press releases (I have written over 2000 of them!) and press materials, advertising headlines and copy, annual reports, corporate business writing, speeches, marketing materials, video scripts, and yes, even humor.
I also have graphic and design experience. I am not a technician at generating these things via Photoshop or other tools. But I know what will work and what won't.
I think that "The Idea" is central to the whole communications process. The Idea comes from the mission and goal. The Idea can be deployed anywhere. The Idea should be in taglines, reflected in logos, tone, language in writing, press releases, and so forth. I'll get The Idea when I know a bit, not just about a specific deliverable, but about the business, the audience, and maybe the competition
I have also worked in a variety of industries, including: IT hardware, IT software, IT consulting, pharmaceuticals, entertainment, recruitment, wireless broadband, semiconductors, green technology, and others.
You can take a look at my website for more detail.
As for me, I work remotely. I use fast internet and communicate using Skype.
When I'm not rocking the world with my work, I scuba dive, cook, read a lot, and assemble bands that will agree to make me frontman.
I look forward to supporting you in whatever way I can! Maybe I'll come up with "The Idea", and maybe it will be "Big".
Work Terms
I'm pretty flexible regarding hours and I'd like to find out what you need and work it out that way. Communications via email, Skype, or phone. I'll do collaborative things on Google Docs, Drive, etc., if that's what you like. I might do one revision or two, but that is negotiable. Guru may have other mechanisms that I should be using, but wire transfers and PayPal both work. I really need clear direction and information that I ask for. It might not be much, but vague and fuzzy RFPs cannot be accepted - unless you want me to rewrite the RFP for you. At any rate, the important thing is delivering what you want, and hopefully exceeding expectations.
