Writing with Precision and Care
As a former Marine machine-gunner, precision and discipline mean a lot to me. They are part of everything I do, but they are not all I am. I've also volunteered as a Rape Crisis Counselor, Sunday School Teacher, Full Time Missionary, Soup Kitchen Worker, and Youth Mentor. I like working with people and helping them accomplish their goals.
Right now I'm a full time writer, focused primarily on publishing a collection of war essays from my time in Iraq in 2003 and 2004, but I also enjoy freelance projects that let me collaborate with other people in their visions. Whether a job is creating meaningful and expressive text or editing text to help it reach maximum effectiveness, I find great pleasure and fulfillment in seeing it done at the highest level.
In addition to being an accomplished writer and editor, I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in English and Creative Writing from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and I have taught university courses in Compostion and Creative Nonfiction.
Work Terms
I prefer to work on projects that require less than 20 hours per week, but I can be flexible on days and times. My standard rate is $20/hour, but I will take contract jobs that are comparable. The best way to contact me is through email: michael_kubista@yahoo.com.
