Digital illustration and design
Full time illustration since July 2005 - February 2016. I currently work as a high school science teacher and coach. For the moment the illustration is done on a part time basis. Have done free lance illustration since 1990. Started out with traditional mediums such as pencil, pen & ink and watercolor. Switched to digital illustration in 1995. Heavily influenced by Frank Frazetta, Michael Whelan, Brom, the Brothers Hildebrant, Michelangelo, Caravaggio and the artwork of Disney and Looney Tunes. However, the single biggest influence was my father who opened the door to the world of art.
The majority of my work is done digitally with pencil and pen & ink work mixed in. Have illustrated over 25 children's books, numerous book covers, worked for video games, role playing games and done work for many corporate clients. Can handle a wide range of subject matter and styles. Strong passion for fantasy and sci-fi subject matter.
Work Terms
The type of project determine whether it is quoted on an hourly or project price basis. Most projects are handled at a quoted price which includes everything from initial concepts through to final art. Video games and corporate design projects quoted at an hourly rate, which is negotiable. If an hourly project hours are calculated for each week and submitted end of work day Friday. If a project price it is half down to start and the remainder upon completion.
All projects are handled as "Work for Hire." Client retains all rights to the work. all I ask is the right to show work in portfolios in order to obtain other work.
