Press releases, social media, newsletters, email marketing, all of these can be powerful ways to engage customers and influence thought leaders. Or they can be a waste of time and money. The difference?...
I didn't start off in communications. I started off...wandering. Working jobs that ranged from property management to accounting and even a brief (miserable!) stint in telemarketing. But at every turn, communications was there waiting for me. Whether I found myself volunteering to re-write collateral for an apartment complex or being voluntold to take over internal communications while in an A/R position, polishing copy and motivating others through words was something that came naturally. Eventually, I took the cosmic cue and went back to school, majoring in Communications & Public Relations. Since then, I've enjoyed evolving with the industry and immersing myself in all the tech tools and apps that have sprung up along the way. While social media removes so many barriers to customer engagement, it doesn't change the basic premise of telling stories in way that spark interest and action.During my eight years working for the Prince William Chamber of Commerce (the largest chamber in Virginia and one of the largest in D.C. area), I got to be a jack of all trades: media planning, event marketing, building social media from the ground up, planning content and navigation for website rebuilds, email marketing, sponsor fulfillment, design and layout, speech and script writing. While my heart is in marketing and content, this broad range of experience comes in handy when collaborating with various vendors.
My hours are flexible, as I work remotely from a home office. I'm reachable by email, and phone, Skype or Hangout meetings can be arranged as well.
