I have completed my MA Applied Linguistics with Merit at the University of Birmingham in December 2013. My dissertation is entitled “Collocation Differences between Adjectives in English and English Adjective Loan Words in Japanese” which passed with distinction. This study investigates the collocation differences between English Adjectives and their loan words in Japanese by using corpus research method.

In the summer of 1994, I was trained at Exchange: Japan under a leading Japanese linguist, Dr. Eleanor H. Jorden, at Bryn Mawr College. My experience at Bryn Mawr College fostered classroom management skills and my teaching ability that I developed further while at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin. At Carthage College, I taught Japanese with full responsibility for both elementary and intermediate classes. Then, I was a full-time Japanese instructor and Japanese program coordinator at the University of Missouri in Columbia where I taught Japanese with full responsibility for both elementary and intermediate classes. In addition to this responsibility, I also taught Japanese Civilization, supervised teaching assistants and advised students who planned to study in Japan. I enjoyed my experience of teaching Japanese at the University of Missouri.
After returning to Japan, I have been working as an in-house translator for an automotive parts company for more than 14 years and have worked for Tohoku University as an administrative staff.

Work Terms

Adjustable, but basically 10 hours a day, and 6 days a week. E-mail is a preferred communication media.
