As a freelance translator, between 2004 and 2011, I have been commissioned to translate various types of texts from Arabic into English and vice versa, including literary, medical and legal documents.

I have also worked as a freelance translator and interpreter for several translation offices in Sana’a, as well as local NGOs and a number of UN agencies including UNECIF. In late December 2019 and early January 2020, I worked as a translator/interpreter for the UNMHA, a mission tasked with implementing the Hodeidah ceasefire deal, in accordance with the Stockholm Agreement.

As a freelance reporter, I have been on several reporting trips for international media agencies, such as The New York Times, IRIN, The Intercept, among others, to cover the humanitarian crisis facing the conflict-affected communities in different Yemeni cities. I had also reported on African migrants crossing the seas into war-torn Yemen.

Apart from that. I have organized a three-day Safety & First Aid training workshop for 20 Yemeni journalists reporting from the field — in coordination with ICRC's delegation in Sana'a and Wujooh Foundation for Media and Development. The workshop was funded by First Look Media, a New York-based Foundation that produces The Intercept — an American online magazine, for which I have written a number of stories from Yemen.

I have an excellent command of spoken and written English, in addition to advanced analytical reading and data-gathering and/or mining skills that helped me achieve extensive and intensive knowledge of Yemen.

Work Terms

I am available 6 days a week, 10 hours a day.
