helping mission-driven folks articulate their creative visions.
I am driven by a unique ability to help folks articulate and execute their creative visions, and I believe strongly in creatives' abilities to learn how to thrive.
For the last eight and a half years, I had the privilege of cultivating artists, cultural organizations and the communities they serve through my work at Brooklyn Arts Council. I filled several roles in the Grants and Arts in Education Departments prior to becoming Grants and Services Director in 2013. In my tenure, I regranted over $2 million in public funds to hundreds of the borough’s artists and local cultural organizations and assisted thousands of folks through the grant process. The council’s public funding portfolio was professionalized and modernized under my directorship: individual grant amounts rose by 15%, the funding process went paperless, and cultural professionals of color sitting in decision-making panels rose from 35-55%. I also oversaw BAC’s fiscal sponsorship, creative community building and professional development initiatives.
I have led workshops and one on one sessions on project management, marketing/press, cultural resources, and grant writing for organizations such as: Actor’s Fund Arts Center, Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Queens Council on the Arts, CUE Art Foundation, A.I.R. Gallery, and Bronx Council on the Arts.
My background and creative practice lies in theater, where I have worked most of my life in varying capacities: as a producer, performer, festival director, press agent and advocate. I hold a B.A. from Goddard College in Individualized Studies with a concentration in Performance and Arts Management, and am a 2015 New York Community Trust Leadership Fellow. I am currently producing and performing with the wildly wonderful experimental performance company Little Lord, can be heard in the back rooms of bars and music venues around NYC backing up rock stars and working as a creative consultant. morganlindseytachco.com
