If there is a book that you really want to read but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it!
I am a single mother of two children in the Pacific Northwest. I have worked in the medical industry for 20 years and have been a writer for over 30 years. I was blessed/cursed with a passion for writing that keeps me up at night but that has led to having many short stories published in anthologies and two of my novels being published. Yes... published... the "old fashioned" way, when you used to drive to a book store and walk in, browse down the aisles and peruse the shelves for the book you wanted. I take a certain pride in that, as it is not an open market like the Internet is today. I still own books, records, a typewriter, record player, VHS machine... I am not against technology and (obviously) use it... but do miss the slower, simpler days. Maybe this is why I write: to delve into other worlds for a bit. Writing a book is the hardest thing you'll ever do... but one of the most worthwhile.
