Precision, Versatility, and Excellence
Whether you need a writer who is accustomed to working virtually on short-term, targeted projects, a contractor who is adept at researching and creating a concise program plan, or an author who can breathe life into your fiction ideas...I'm your (wo)man.
I am a professional freelancer with over 15 years of writing experience in a broad range of genres. I have a BA in Public Health (University of South Carolina) with concentration in Sexual and Reproductive Health in Exceptional Populations, and three associate degrees (AA, AS, AAS in Clinical Laboratory Technology).
Currently, I work in a large hospital system as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in South Carolina. I also present annually at the South Carolina HIV, STD and Viral Hepatitis Conference on learning to communicate skillfully to BDSM practitioners in the community about prevention. I have also had the opportunity to present on two ongoing public health-based projects, Pioneer and Project TEASE. (Read: No subject matter is too far out for me!)
Although I love the technical and scientific aspect of my career, I feel a certain void when Iām not writing, researching, or actively working on a project. As I work third shift on a non-traditional schedule, I can easily fit appointments around my family and work life.
With my educational background, I can offer you the best in quality for your academic writing and research needs. I have tremendous experience in conducting studies and literature searches using databases, analyzing, and summarizing data. I have experience with nonprofit organizations and can guide your group through everything from just writing your executive summary, to a complete grant. In fact, I enjoy conducting the necessary research to make my content relevant, current, and interesting and I can bring my industry knowledge and experience to your project. I also have experience in the world of creative writing. Character development and a strong story line are my greatest strengths.
Work Terms
My rates are generally negotiable. If you have budgetary concerns, we'll discuss a comfortable solution. Above all, I am committed to delivering high quality, timely work that will consistently exceed your expectations. My grant writing fee is dependent on the complexity of the section(s) of the grant to be written, due to the hours required for researching and writing.
I prefer to use Guru's Safepay. On flat-fee projects, I require 1/3 up front and will either specify milestone payments or balance upon completion. On hourly work, I require a $25 fee to start.
Unless otherwise stipulated, work will be submitted in Times New Roman, 12 pt font, double-spaced, 1" margins. If necessary, preference for citation style must be specified (MLA, APA, CMS).
Grants are submitted exactly as specified by the grant application.
Nonfiction and fiction creative writing pieces for submission are always in Courier (or Times New Roman, if requested) 12 pt font, double-spaced, 1ā margins.
Screenplays and stage plays are submitted in Courier, 12 pt font, 1.5ā left margin, 1ā right, top and bottom margin, and industry standard spacing and indention.
I always ensure close collaboration through regular updates and discussions. Because I have a non-traditional schedule, I can easily maneuver around most client schedules. Please let me know what is most convenient for you.
Feel free to contact me through guru or email: morgansvarn@gmail.com. If we agree to work together, I will provide you with my phone number.
