Writer, Photographer, Curator
I am a creative professional & strategist with 15 years’ experience, working across many creative disciplines and industries over the years.
Firstly, 12 years in advertising as a strategic planner, writer, designer and creative director.
I quit my full time job in early 2010 and spent the last few years working freelance, while also honing my skills as a journalist, content writer and photographer.
Since then, I have written freelance features pieces many publications, webzines, blogs and newspapers and have photographed freelance for the media, social documentary, travel, fashion, performance and art.
The current explosion of post-war art and culture in the country has also seen my passionate involvement over the past few years. I was invited by the Goethe Institute to workshop with them on their ‘Art Needs Space’ project, invited as a guest speaker at the Photographic Society of Sri Lanka, interviewed local television on my maverick approach to photography and also invited to speak at the country’s first TED Talks (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxcMUY6A3-E).
This lead me to my current position of Head of Arts at British Council in Sri Lanka where I have conceptualized and run Sri Lanka centric arts for development programmes in the country for the first time in British Council’s many years of existence in the country.
I will be leaving this job in early 2015 to continue working for both the arts and the media on a freelance basis.
