I earned my professional writing skills working for a lawyer who laughed out loud at misplaced apostrophes and then made fun of me in Latin ("Feeling non compus mentis today?").
I learned to mimic voice and style as a playwright, in which I have a degree from the University of Washington (cum laude). I developed my ear for other people's way of talking and writing by listening to them speak so that I could use their voices. I also learned about plotting and the arc and shape of telling a good story.
I've written two novels, numerous screenplays, a few plays. As an editor I have compiled and corrected handwritten journals for a planned memoir, corrected and polished countless cover letters and resumes, and drafted all manner of professional communications.
