John is straight-up the best editor I’ve worked with. Let me explain: My project was a 85k-ish word manuscript, for which I needed not just editing, but opinions about plot and overall story. I hired 10 different editors, as I wanted a range of opinions (and hiring 10 on Guru was still about half as expensive as the cheapest “professional” quote I could find!) When John’s edits came back, the whole document was bleeding red. Intimidated a bit, I worked on his edits last. After I processed 9 different editors, John managed to identify about a dozen additional typos that all of the editors and myself had missed. That was just the start, though. His real contribution was his assistance in improving the flow of the language. Then he provided opinions throughout about larger issues, such as questions about the characters’ motivations. In summary: He was absolutely fantastic. A huge, huge recommendation for John.
