Writing is my life

My name is Nkechi Ebite and I am a writer.

This is the first time I am admitting it to myself or writing it down on paper that "I am a writer". All my life, I have been worried about what people would think of me when I say "I love to write". I have also worried about my finances - if I would ever become the billionaire I believe I am destined to become. These reasons led me to making the wrong career choices.

First, I studied Biochemistry with the plan of becoming a doctor along the line because my mother told me to. Her dream was to become the mother of both a doctor and an engineer (my brother). Unfortunately, she died when I was in my first year at the university and I never became the doctor that she wanted.

For my second degree, I chose to study finance and management because I felt that was the surest way for me to become a billionaire. I studied the course, graduated and started a business and after 28 months, I closed shop. I was back to square one.

I also held a couple of jobs here and there but they never really gave me the joy and satisfaction I got from writing on my blog Myopic Concaves; or the little plays and articles I wrote. However, as much joy I derived from it, I never made any money from it and because of that, I continued to chase money until November this year.

In November, my brother gave me a book called "Mastery" by Robert Greene and after reading two chapters, I realized that I had spent all my life denying myself of my true purpose - to write. I had always enjoyed writing for the longest. I can still remember the first story I wrote at seven about a wrestling match between the elephant and the ant where the ant won. I loved that story. Every time I read it, it brought joy to my soul. It was like falling in love with myself all over again.

After I discovered my true passion, I have been writing ever since. I haven't stopped and that why I am here to push myself to write about other things besides movies and short stories. I hope

Work Terms

I work 8 hours a day and preferred to be paid hourly.
I must be given detailed information on whatever subject I am to write about.
