I am an award-winning, full-time, freelance illustrator focusing on children's books, textbook illustration, and educational readers as well as prehistoric subjects, for a range of young audiences. I have had paid projects for almost two decades and also been paid to write and design for picture books, fantasy and educational books.
I use inks, paints and digital techniques to create a unique look. My favorite review described my work as "pearlescent." My images are always straddling the fence between something classic and something that feels altogether new. I have been a featured illustrator of over 36 issues of ODYSSEY Magazine (sci-fi for 6th Grade to YA audience), and was recently the sole illustrator chosen for their retrospective collection. I have worked on 1st and 2nd grade Readers, all the way up to sophisticated work for adults.
I've won several awards for my work, including many international competitions such as Best of Fantasy, and Society of Illustrators West #45, as well as a Mom's Choice Award in 2012 and 2011. All-in-all, though, I count being voted in by the kids for a Children's Choice Award as my all-time favorite recognition.
I am also a published author/illustrator of nonfiction childrens readers as well as fiction. I consistently pursue my ideas and manuscripts, and would be interested in having such endeavors pitched as a collaborative effort, if and when that's possible.
