During the procurement of Capital goods for our L&T Project, I along with my Regional Head had visited the project site to analyse the optimum utilisation of the goods. Subsequent to a detailed discussion with all the project members, we had taken a decision to hold the purchase of few capital goods which really saved a lot for our company in terms of monetary benefit and also avoiding duplicate purchase.
For our Philippines Power project, we had a proposal of setting up a big warehouse at project site to receive all the FOB items from Indian and other overseas locations which would cost a bomb. But I had again come up with an idea of having a small interim Warehouse at the Mumbai Port premises itself to the receive the Indian FOB items at one place and then based on the site erection schedule can ship the items to Project.
Our Procurement team sat with the engineering team to understand the cable layout of the project for Philippines Project and accordingly came out with a proposal for rerouting of the same keeping the equipment location in mind. We had saved a lot of monies by minimal procurement of cables required for the whole project.
