Lawyer turned author, editor, and food writer.
I started my career in the legal field in 2010, going to consumer court, filing divorce cases, and handling due diligences. Over the years, I always felt as if something was missing. This was when I stumbled on an opportunity to work with a company which worked towards improving reading and writing skills of students in schools through storytelling. It was while my team was working on putting together a list of recommended books for children between the age of 6-15 years that we realised that with certain age groups, there are no good books for kids. So in order to bridge that gap, I started writing for the company.
From there, it’s been all about writing and editing. I joined a monthly exploration toy company as an author and content manager. Each month we had a new theme, and it was my job to delightful write stories for each theme, coordinate with my illustrator and make sure that the book went from conception to publishing. This was apart from providing content for social media and also leading the customer management team.
After a years stint in Flintobox, I came to the US to get a Masters in creative writing from Dartmouth college. During my masters, I was a teaching assistant for the undergrad writing class and tutored students on the basics of writing. I was also the managing editor for the department's quarterly magazine. For my thesis, I completed a coffee-table cookbook with a collection of essays follow the timeline of my gastronomical life with importance given to my life, family dynamics relationships and friendships that were built on a common love of food and an appendix of recipes for delicious meals that anyone and everyone can whip up easily. This also led me to start my own blog called Passive Aggressive Kitchen.
I continued my work in the world of children's book publishing as an assistant editor at Pratham Books, one of India's biggest influences in the industry.
