English-Polish and Polish-English certified translator with a legal background

Hello!

I am a Polish-English and English-Polish certified translator with a legal background. I also run courses of English for Specific Purposes.

I am an officially certified (sworn) translator, entered into the register kept by the Polish Minister of Justice. My qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in English (teaching and business specializations), a Master's Degree in law (a five-year program), Postgraduate Translation Studies, the Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) and the Test of Legal English Skills (TOLES) Advanced. I have defended a master's thesis on Polish-English legal translation and published three papers on legal issues.

As a translator, I have worked on a variety of content (documents, websites, applications, articles, etc.), including general and specialized language. I am especially interested and experienced in the areas of law (e.g., contracts, judgments, wills), business, finance, tourism, IT and academic texts. Additionally, I was an intern at a law firm, where I provided legal services to local and foreign clients (e.g., investigating cases, analyzing contracts, drafting opinions). My approach to legal translation is the sum of my linguistic and legal background. I believe that grasping the interplay of law and language is the key to success there.

In every translation assignment, I strive to bring the source text maximally close to the target reader without compromising its content. I never accept a task that I feel I would not be able to complete within the deadline and to exacting standards.
