As a self-confessed logophile, I have a love for all things literary. I have always regarded writing to be one of the most powerful forms of expression and communication. As a published journalist and researcher, I work with writers of all guises, to help improve their texts and ensure they are ready for publication.
I am those fresh set of eyes that will aid you from behind the scenes to help you achieve your writing aspirations, by improving and enhancing your words, allowing you to focus on what you do best – writing! Or, if writing is not your forte, I can provide you with content for your website or blog. What you will receive from me, as well as my support, friendly ear and guidance, is efficiency, collaboration, consistency and a high-quality outcome of your work.
After obtaining my undergraduate degree in Music from Kingston University, specialising in ethnomusicology, I completed a Master’s degree in Music and Culture at Roehampton University, focusing on cultural theory, politics and ethnomusicology. I obtained a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education at Roehampton University in 2008, and have worked as a Secondary teacher in several comprehensive schools in London.
I am a member of an academic research group founded by Gothenburg and Birzeit Universities and have published my work in a collective book entitled Palestinian Music and Song: Expression and Resistance since 1900. I have published a number of articles on Palestinian music and music under occupation, focusing on the work of string quartet the Fifth Quadrant, Palestinian Hip-hop and music of the Palestinian diaspora, in magazines such as The Middle East in London, The Youth Times and This Week in Palestine.
I have spoken at several conferences and symposiums about my research, and have been interviewed on BBC World News by Zainab Badawi and on Voice of America on the topic of protest music of the Arab Sp
