I lived in the US up to high school and now currently reside in South Korea. I am very thankful for the opportunities that had me experience life in a couple of countries around the globe in my childhood and teenage years.
I cannot forget how delightful it was to get to know something new. However, to be honest, there were always some sort of difficulties when I had to move to another country, faced with the culture and language that are different from what I had known, but thankfully, I could consider such challenges as enjoyable tasks to deal with by means of the help of my friends around me. A few friends of mine could speak both Korean and English fluently and understood both cultures, so they were always on my side delivering and explaining thoughts and words to me in the language and culture I was familiar with which had been Korean initially. Throughout my stay in the States, I could make drastic progress in the language and eventually had myself assimilated to the culture as well. Whenever I saw myself loving my stay in the States, I wholeheartedly thanked my friends who happily walked me through the “adapting period” which might have been terrible without them, and such priceless experience motivated me to become like them in the future when I myself can give a hand to those struggling with differences in languages and cultures.
I have been associating with many non-native Korean speakers who speak English since I moved back to South Korea, and I spend more than 25 hours a week with them. I also translate and interpret everyday tasks and other miscellaneous documents for those who need help in Korean and English.
I am fully confident that I have not only the readiness of mind to be on your project but also the related experience and skills needed in this field.
