Mental health, culture, and research get me going!
I am a Behavioral Sciences graduate, trained and very interested in the field of mental health, culture, and research. I have experiences in academic writing, research, field interviews, field immersions and counselling. Throughout my undergraduate years, I learned to be adaptive, collaborative, and critical in terms of analysis and research. My undergraduate program is also extensive in terms of the social sciences, it being a transdisciplinary field specializing in sociology, psychology, and anthropology.
Mental health is my advocacy. For my final academic year in college, I was deployed to a government hospital to care for cancer patients in palliative care. I interviewed, counselled, and provided mental health care for patients and their families by teaching coping strategies and other interventions. After each session, I encoded and wrote reports detailing the sessions I had with patients and the interventions applied and given to them.
Research has been the highlight of my undergraduate years. I take pride in my undergraduate thesis (pending approval for publication), focusing on employment of persons with autism. I was able to apply the skills I have learned in mixed-methods research and academic writing. I also had experience working as a research assistant for a dissertation written by one of the doctors from the hospital I once interned in.
I also had the honor of being the head of a university organization (UP Musicians' Organization), where I learned and experienced how to organize events, create program flows, collaborate with sponsors and partner organizations, and formulate creative outputs.
I truly hope to apply my skills, advocacy, and passions into work. I am collaborative, adaptive, open to constructive criticism, and teachable. With training and guidance, I believe I will be capable of delivering quality output for any client.
